SPECIAL SECTION:
Gunn's Pulp Mill

Richard Flanagan’s eloquent account of Gunns’ takeover of Tasmania’s government was published in issue 23 of The Monthly. It’s called ‘Out of Control: The Tragedy of Tasmania’s Forests.’ Sydney businessman Geoffrey Cousins was moved to agitate against the pulp mill after reading this article. The pulp mill was approved in October by Malcolm Turnbull, with the blessing of Labor’s Peter Garrett. Richard Flanagan’s story can be found here.
