We have all seen the signs placed on
the roadside by supposedly caring local
councils. Are they there to warn us to
take care on the road and protect our
unique wildlife, or are they a simple
gimmick to encourage tourism.
Let's now take a wider view of this sign
at Ashby in the lower Clarence River
district just across the river from
Maclean.
KOALAS, ONE STEP NEARER
TO EXTINCTION IN THE
CLARENCE VALLEY
Koala Habitat Destruction
Roadside warning sign.
A development on land identified in 2002 as core Koala habitat by North Coast ecologists
Biolink P/L. Now the area is being cleared for housing, reportedly with full Council approval.
