SEEKING EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST
CLARENCE VALLEY
Are you interested in helping to maintain the local and broader koala population and increase the quality of koala habitat?
The Clarence Valley Koala Working Group in conjunction with the Lions Club of Clarence – Environmental and WWF are looking for landowners in the Clarence Valley who want to enhance and add to the koala habitat on their properties by planting koala food tree corridors and core habitat in areas either known to be used by koalas, or adjacent to those areas.
Weeding control to improve koala habitat is also available. It is hoped that these actions will not only help boost koala numbers locally, but also permit connections between koala habitat areas across the valley and with other local government areas such as Richmond Valley and Coffs Harbour.
We are progressively enhancing koala habitat in the Clarence Valley by working with local and state government and private land owners to strategically plant koala food trees. Thousands of trees are already planted and successfully growing. We will work with you to ensure that the trees survive, and your property continues to perform for its current purpose. We have access to funding, tree stocks, tree guards and planting teams so there will be zero cost to you. We can assist with ensuring that the trees reach maturity and survive into the future.
If you are in a residential area or on a property that may not be suitable for koala food trees, please pass this onto anyone in the Clarence Valley that may be interested. If this is something you would like to investigate contact us by June 30th, 2022.
