To give, unemployed and
other people on benefit a purpose.

To get unemployed busy
in a variety of ways for their individual needs that will in the long
term create work and self esteem for them.

- Encourage people on benefits to grow their
own vegetables and fruit, or to practice creative skills in some art
or craft form, which may he able to supplement income or reduce financial
burden of food bills.
- Those people that join the scheme would
he paid an additional allowance of $10 per week extra to encourage a
persistent approach.
- If they are able to produce an income
over $60 per fortnight then their benefit would be reduced accordingly.
It would be necessary to ensure that their benefit would remain above
the level that would be if they choose to do nothing.

- Centrelink or the job network organisations
would be co-opted to assist in helping people with similar projects
in nearby areas, to gain access to each other for. support.
- For example people with musical abilities
may be interested in forming a band, or. those growing vegetables may
he helped by forming a co-op to help marketing their produce or trading
food.

- This will benefit the whole community-You
will have many more people that have something to show for themselves
and a lot more balanced society generally.
- It will help to build self reliance and
self respect and create a way for people to think more creatively, proactively
and create opportunities for themselves.
